Simon Barrow, the pioneer leveraging his combined expertise of Senior Management, HR consulting, Product Marketing and M&A etc., firstly conceived the term ‘Employer Brand’ in 1990s in UK, then worked with Professor Tim Ambler from London Business School, on the first academic paper on the Employer Brand in 1996, when he bought (MBO) People In Business consultancy which he created and developed under his own leadership of being CEO of Barkers Human Resources, after his time with leading players on both agency and inhouse sides, including being consumer goods brand manager in Knorr (now Unilever), Colgate-Palmolive and being CEO for Ayer Barker.

Under Simon’s leadership, responding to the challenges of line management of employees, People In Business consultancy played the pioneering role of developing employer brand strategy for a list of notable clients, including Hiscox, Invesco, Henderson, Newton, Man Group, Standard Life, NHS GPs, Tesco and Teva Pharmaceuticals, then was acquired by TMP in 2012.

After his new adventure with M&A and PR consulting, further to 2 books which Simon co-authored, ‘Employee Communications in Mergers and Acquisitions – the soft stuff is the hard bit (Gower 2009)’,  and his 1st business book which he co-author with then teammate Richard Mosley, ‘The Employer Brand – bringing the best of brand management to people at work (Wiley 2005)’ , his book of poems about management Humanity at Work will be published later this year.

EBS2019’ The 6th Employer Brand Strategy (Learning) Summit is another editon of the EBS learning series which was started by the independent B2B event organizer, LinLead in 2009, firstly as learning workshop, with great reception and expectation in China and neighboring areas, in 2012 upgraded into a big conference format.
